Before You Schedule

Before you make an appointment with us, please consider the following:

  • We are committed to helping patients gradually taper down the amount of opioids they take, with the goal of eventually stopping them entirely. We do not prescribe certain drugs that we consider to be counter-productive to healing, including benzodiazepines (read more).
  • We use an integrative, whole-body approach to pain management. This often requires more than a monthly visit to check in for a prescription refill.

  • Dr. Thunder and Pearla McDonald are Medicare providers; Dr. Melone is not. The practice does not take Medicaid.

  • Our office does not handle cases involved with automobile accidents, workers compensation, personal injury, or disability.

  • You are responsible for calling your insurance company to make sure Thunder Pain and Wellness, Dr. Kenneth Thunder, Dr. Amanda Melone, and Pearla McDonald are covered by your plan. Dr. Melone does not take traditional Medicare.

  • A $100 deposit is required when making your first appointment* — this will be refunded or applied to your visit.
  • ​​​​​​​We charge a $100 “No Show” fee if you fail to cancel your first visit appointment.* We’re happy to waive this if you call 48 hours in advance of your appointment. This will be payable immediately, ineligible for insurance coverage, and solely the patient’s responsibility. Giving us adequate time to schedule another patient will allow us to help as many people as possible, so we thank you for your consideration.
  • ​​​​​​​We require a credit/debit card to be kept on file with our office (see policy).
  • You must arrive with your ID, your insurance card, credit card, and ALL of your forms COMPLETED or you will be rescheduled and charged the $100 No Show fee. Dr. Thunder is very thorough, and if you are late, he will be unable to fully assess your situation.
